Port Free

I am one step closer to being a normal human being again! I got my port removed today. It was far simpler having it removed then having it put in I can tell you. The surgeon who put it in and took it out felt I was having so much trouble with it since I had it put in because my body was fighting it since she installed it. It was pretty cool watching her remove it. She numbed me, then made a small incision, maybe about an inch and a half long, removed the internal sutures and just yanked it out. It didn't bleed much and she closed the incision with 5 stitches, advised me to use vitamin E on it after the stitches come out next week.

I all ready feel better, do you think that is a mental thing?

Stand Back and Watch Me Shine!

Not knowing what a port is except for a waterway or a wine like beverage, I'll just say you sound so happy that I am over the moon and shining because of you!

Applause!

Meg, Physical or psychological?
Probably both. Having a medical device removed from your body must be a good thing in both respects. Onward and upward, my dear. :-)

Hi Meg!
So glad you are up and sounding chipper.
Must feel awesome to be free of the port.
Just wanted to see how you were doing - did you see the Who yet (last leg)?
I'm still coasting on my Rachel/Who fest.
I need to blog about it...I've been silent because I am just savoring memories.
I'm an odd bird!
I promise to post my awesome pics soon.
Take care and yeah:
SHINE ON.
Lots of love,
Suexxx

Hi Meg,

Another milestone, and I don't blame you for feeling happy the port is gone. It must be hard to feel "normal" with something like that in your body, no matter how vital it is to the healing process.

The nurse was right about the vit E - it heals scarring brilliantly, especially if you use it from the start.

Hope you're continuing to feel better, mental or not!

Been wondering how you are. And I even spoke to my mother, she knows nothing about computers, about your amazing journey to continue to shine. She and I had lunch and I cannot remember what prompted me. Some way to inspire...I think. There was a need and in the end my mother said, "that's good. She sounds brave. Good for her!".

shine-shine-shine!
